Position

Novi Vinodolski is located in the south-eastern part of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, in the central part of the Northern Croatian Littoral near the Vinodol Valley and along the indented coast of the Velebit Channel. Administratively it includes 20 statistical settlements.

The area of Novi Vinodolski covers the area of 265 km², while the landscaped area covers 5.13 km², and according to use can be divided into residential zones (family houses and apartment buildings), city centre (mixed use), commercial areas along the coastal belt) and transport infrastructure areas. The surface of the waters in the Velebit Channel is 65.24 km² and the length of the indented coast is 25 km.

Today, Novi Vinodolski offers all the facilities necessary for a modern way of life and business. It has a school, kindergarten, church, post office, health centre, pharmacy, reading room and a library, museum and gallery, banks, FINA branch, credit savings and insurance companies, gas stations, hotels, travel agencies, as well as a range of craft services. The geo-traffic position of Novi Vinodolski and the accessibility by sea, land and air, i.e. the proximity to the countries of Central Europe, make it an attractive destination for holidays or short vacations.

Rijeka International Airport is 25 km away and is operational throughout the year. Climate

Swimming season starts in May and lasts until October. Summer air temperatures range from 22 to 35°C, and sea temperatures from 20 to 25°C.

The most common winds are jugo (warm and humid wind) and bura (strongest and driest wind). Freshness and comfort in the summer is brought by the maestral (north-westerly wind) that blows from the mainland towards the sea. In the summer months, short storms occur with showers, as well as a north wind tramuntana.
